all windows must be clothed...

i love love love love fabric! i love curtains... and love curtain rods... and love when they can look amazing and cost a little! here are my tricks in making curtain rods at home for around $20.00 per window (this is rod, curtains, and rings) get readdddyyyy....

ok! so go to your local thrift store and look in the curtain/textile area... you are bound to find some amazing something... (i love when they are pinch pleat at the top (like mine)) but any fun curtain will do! i also super love mixing in a funky color or print... my color of choice is usually mustard/harvest gold.. mmm-hmmm i LOVE that color!

ok- so we found the curtains! Don't spend more than $5-$10 a panel.. and use your judgement... i mean if the panels are the most amazing print/color you have every seen and look nothing like you would find at target, ikea, or pottery barn.... i mean.. you have to have them.. but otherwise be picky!

next step: CURTAIN ROD!

measure! measure how long your window is... and if there is room on either side (maybe if you have a big wall of windows.. add some extra length to your total to add some extra umph on the wall!)

go to home depot... in the un-finished wood section there are dowel rods of all sizes... you can pick any size you prefer and then have them cut it to size! in the same area of dowel rods also choose what style of end finial you want on your curtain rod (my decision is usually made up by the price.. mine were $3 and some change) when you take the dowel rod to be cut down also have them route an area that will allow the screw that is on finial to be attached to dowel!

RINGS:
i love wooden rings for the way to attach the curtain to the rod! i buy mine at hobby lobby and simple sew them on the back of the curtains (behind each pinch pleat.. but you can also use the clips... the raw wood ones at HOBBY LOBBY are less expensive and look better in my opinion!) (extra cookie: take a 40% coupon (print online) with you when you go so you can save a little extra!)

FINAL TOUCH:
paint! the spray paint i use i buy at home depot and costs only $1.00 a can and i prefer the matte black.

please feel free to comment, ask questions, or if you need help or suggestions with your current curtains.. let me know! i will post a few other pics of curtain 're-habs' i have helped with this week! so hang on for the ride!

happy hunting!
